Volumes 1-11
Volume 1 | Zombies in the Delta
Peyton and Marco’s relationship has undergone enormous change. With new jobs demanding their attention, they struggle to find an equilibrium between their professional and personal lives. Added to that difficulty is Marco’s inability to accept his own physical limitations and his fear that Peyton stays with him only through guilt. Peyton sees his growing distance and worries about it, but she’s afraid to confront him and add to his stress. Faced with her own challenges, Peyton tries to balance both halves of her life, but when a zombie killer strikes in the Delta, Peyton will have to focus her attention on catching a murderer as elusive as smoke, leaving Marco to fend for himself. |
Volume 2 | Mermaids in the Pacific
Peyton thought working for the FBI would bring new adventure and intrigue into her life. Certainly being assigned to the Ghost Squad promised such things, but reality is often different than the dream. Everything is wrong. Her new boss, Radar, thinks she’s angling for his job, her personal life is in shambles, and her once over-crowded house has become an empty shell where she and her dog, Pickles, wander about, longing for what was lost. With Marco in a battle for his life, Peyton feels sidelined, until a mermaid is found floating off Natural Bridges State Beach. Beyond the media frenzy looms the very real possibility that Peyton and her team may be sucked into a standoff between the federal government and an elusive cult known only as Horizon. And Radar fears, there will be blood. |
Volume 3 | Werewolves in London
After solving two cases in her first months with the FBI, Peyton feels things are beginning to come together in her career. Her personal life is another matter. Although Marco has shown signs he wants to work on their relationship, building trust will take time. However, that progress is put on hold when an American college student is killed in London. Peyton and the Ghost Squad must venture across the pond to solve the murder and catch a killer that grows bolder with each attack, leaving only a single clue behind… …the howl of a werewolf. |
Volume 4 | Vampires in Hollywood
In the last few months, Peyton has solved multiple cases for the FBI, while Marco has learned to navigate his role as police captain. Navigating their personal relationship has proven more challenging, however. Marco’s jealousy over Peyton’s newest friend, Mike, causes friction between them, but although he tries to curb it, he can’t deny a growing feeling that something isn’t right with this man. As Peyton struggles to understand his obsession, she’s distracted by the cold case she’s pursuing. Before she and Tank can gain any traction, however, Radar’s wife provides the Ghost Squad with their latest mystery: vampires in Hollywood. |
Volume 5 | Mayan Gods in the Yucatan
Peyton and Marco have always led complicated lives, but now their cases are pulling them in different directions. After his surgery, Marco has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him, but his precinct needs him to focus on the murder of a young serviceman who might have intimate ties to the mayor. Peyton wants to be there for him; however, when a DEA agent turns up missing, the Ghost Squad is called to the Yucatan to investigate. What they find there will embroil them in a drug war between two countries, where illicit activities are being bartered underground and the players are impossible to identify. However, as Peyton and her team soon learn, they are facing an adversary that will only be appeased in blood – the blood of humans sacrificed to an uneasy Mayan god. |
Volume 6 | Haunts in Bodie
For the past few months, Peyton has fought to become an integral part of the Ghost Squad. Their cases have taken them on adventures around the world, but nothing can prepare them for the most ironic case of their careers – solving a murder in the historic ghost town of Bodie. With Marco embroiled in his own battle with the Chechen mob, Peyton finds her attention divided between the situation at home and a suspect that’s as ethereal as a ghost. Unfortunately, Radar is dead in the crosshairs and Peyton may be the only one who can save him. As the Ghost Squad ventures into the Wild West, Peyton begins to question whether there really are haunts in Bodie. |
Volume 7 | Menehune in Kauai
When Peyton and Marco embark upon a vacation to Kauai, they are only looking for sunshine, blue waters, and white sand. Although they feel guilty about stealing time for themselves, they know they may not get another chance to concentrate on each other without the pressure from both of their jobs driving them apart. The beautiful island of Kauai welcomes them and they begin to relax, until a body is found floating in the hot tub at their hotel with a poisoned arrow sticking out of his chest. Whether they want it or not, they are suddenly thrust into a mystical whodunit, but the one thing Peyton and Marco do well is work together, and there is no one who can solve a case quite like they can. |
Volume 8 | Frankenstein in Hamburg
Peyton has proven herself worthy of the elite Ghost Squad, solving six cases for the FBI in her first few months. Her personal life with Marco has also stabilized and they are both looking forward to building a future together. However, Marco finds himself increasingly entangled in a mob situation in San Francisco, while Peyton is called to Germany, where American tourists are going missing. As the Ghost Squad boards a plane for Europe, they fear that they are about to come face to face with a modern day Dr. Frankenstein, a scientist conducting horrific experiments. Peyton’s commitment to her team is indisputable, but she has a secret she longs to share – and the one man she wants to share it with happens to be half a world away. |
Volume 9 | Goblins in San Francisco
Peyton and Marco finally have everything they’ve wanted for so long. The future has never looked brighter or more secure, but… Marco’s battle with the mob terrorizing San Francisco has become personal and he’s square in their crosshairs. Naturally, car bombs going off in the middle of the City draws the attention of the FBI and when a splinter group called the Goblins claims responsibility, who better to take them out than the Ghost Squad? Of course, Peyton has no choice. When someone threatens her man, she’s ready to go to war. |
Volume 10 | Yetis in Whistler
Now that peace has been restored in San Francisco, Peyton and Marco are focused on their lives together. As Peyton takes on a leadership position with the Ghost Squad, Marco contemplates moving beyond the precinct into a political career. However, peace and normalcy are tenuous for a couple always caught in the crosshairs of justice. When Peyton and the Ghost squad are called to Whistler to investigate the mysterious death of a professional skier, they aren’t prepared to contend with a fringe group that believes the suspect is less than human. As the Ghost Squad confronts the reality that Sasquatch may in fact be real, Marco must decide if he has the calling to lead the City by the Bay into the next decade. |
Volume 11 |Pirates in Las Vegas
With both Peyton and Marco advancing in their careers, they look forward to a future that has never seemed more secure. However, huge decisions face the couple as they begin the next, exciting chapter of their lives. As Marco settles into his role as captain and Peyton navigates the complicated process of becoming the lead in the Hate Crimes Division, Peyton’s first case as an FBI agent suddenly dominates her world once more. Lance Corporal Daws died of a drug overdose in a sleazy Las Vegas hotel room with a mysterious coin and two napkins with random numbers written on them. Although the case was pulled back to the Las Vegas field office, Peyton has been getting cryptic messages from Enigma, a man who speaks in riddles. With the help of her team, Peyton has never been as close as she is now to cracking the case... ...and she’s never been in so much danger. |
Murder Mystery: Peyton Brooks, FBI: Hate Crimes Division
Volume 1
Volume 1 |The Dating App Assaults
After her maternity leave, Peyton reluctantly returns to her job as the lead for the Hate Crimes Division. Taking this job was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. It meant staying home with her growing family and being there for all of her baby’s firsts, but this team is not like her last one and personality conflicts are inevitable. To complicate things further, the nature of the crimes she must now solve are heartbreaking. Hate Crimes are a particularly heinous set of cases, involving marginalized people in horrifying predicaments, and her first case is no exception. When gay men are being assaulted for using a popular dating app, Peyton and her team must discover the perpetrators as quickly as they can, before another young man winds up injured, or worse, dead. But can she hold her team together in order to solve this case? And will the demands of a new leadership role put unnecessary strain on her family? With each swipe left, another innocent victim may be in the crosshairs of an assailant who has no mercy. |
Volume 2 |The Cross Burning Case
While Peyton and Marco continue to struggle with their work/life balance, crime doesn’t take a break. As a homicide detective, Peyton dreaded each call, because it meant that someone had lost his or her life, but moving to Hate Crimes has shown her the darkness in humanity isn’t confined to murder. Lifting the veil on the underbelly of the City has forced Peyton to acknowledge innocent victims can be targeted through no fault of their own. However, when a cross is burned in the yard of a civil rights activist, Peyton and her squad are on the case. For Marco, raising a child while being in law enforcement has always been a concern, but his daughter Piper quickly became the focus of his life. His love for her drove him to take on the cold case of Audra Tarkington, the young woman who went missing thirteen years ago, but after hitting dead end after dead end, Marco isn’t sure he’ll be able to bring Audra’s father closure. And then the Homicide Division is called to investigate the strange murder of Elliot Robertson. Putting Audra’s case on the back burner isn’t something Marco wants to do, but when a murderer is on the loose, he might not have any other choice. |
Murder Mystery: A Peyton Brooks Homicide: The Early Cases
Volume 1-3
Volume 1 | A Sour Grape

Volume 2 | All Hallows
Peyton and Marco have the best crime-solve statistics in the Homicide Division, but that accolade might be in jeopardy when a football player is murdered on Halloween. Volume 3 | Velvet Sapphire
No one solves cases like San Francisco detectives, Peyton Brooks and her partner, Marco D’Angelo, but when a young Mexican folk singer, Ynes Linares, is found strangled with her own pearls, compiling a list of suspects that wanted to harm her is easier than figuring out who didn’t. Everyone wanted a piece of the Velvet Sapphire, but someone wanted everything. |
